I had called Horhut to come out to look at a tree that I believed had root girdling to see if anything could be done to save the tree. I left a message and Steve promptly called me back to set up an appointment. He came out a few days later and gave me a recommendation that it probably wasn’t worth the price to try and save the tree since cutting the root that was girdling the tree would probably kill it. He did not charge for coming out to give me the evaluation. I was very impressed with his professionalism, honest opinion, and prompt response to my call. I would/will definitely use them again, specifically when the tree dies and needs to be removed.

Very well. Steve and his crew were very professional and polite. They checked with me about each tree to see if I was satisfied with what they had done. They worked with me when I asked for a few changes. They cleaned everything up. Trees look great and will be healthier now.

They were efficient and skilled, did exactly what we we asked for the quoted price and cleaned up after themselves….awesome.

Steve came out to give us an estimate on possibly removing our three pine trees. At that time we weren’t sure if we wanted them removed or just topped. With all the uncertain weather we have anymore, we didn’t want them coming down during a storm. He was very thorough with his explanation in our options. We decided to the have the tress taken down.

Steve emailed me the estimate the very next day. At that time we knew they had other jobs already scheduled and since the trees were still standing, we had no urgency for the job to be started.
I signed the bid and sent the check for the deposit on July 18th.
We had the scheduled appointment for Friday August 14th. I have the feeling that if it was a dire situation with the trees (falling down, already down etc) they would of come sooner.
They arrived Friday morning, ( I am sorry I was at work I would of loved to watch them do this).
When I arrived home 8 hours later the trees were down, the stumps gone, (they also ground another stump from an old tree we took down). Everything was cleaned up. I couldn’t believe they had all that done and cleaned up in about 8 hours.
Our backyard smelled like Christmas with the pine scent still in the air.
I do miss the trees, but I won’t be worried the next time we have severe storms.
We can’t say enough about how great Steve and his team were. I would recommended them to anyone looking to have work done.

We had a row of blue spruce and white pine that were getting too large for their location just a few feet from our house. The 20-25 foot trees were the barrier between our house and our neighbor’s, and grew right up against our neighbor’s fence. The roots were coming up into our walkway and growing towards our foundation. Steve came out and gave us an estimate in the spring, but we delayed the work until fall due to birds nesting in the trees. Getting the estimate was quick and easy since Steve emailed it to me shortly after assessing the job.

The crew showed up right on time and got to work in very short order after talking to me and answering any questions I had. After just an hour the trees were down and fed into the chipper, which was very impressive and handled almost a whole tree at a time. I was worried about the proximity of the trees to our house and the neighbor’s fence, but each tree was carefully felled and didn’t cause any damage. The stump grinder also was an impressively efficient piece of equipment. Each stump was ground out and the roots removed all around it, leaving loose dirt for easy replanting. All told, the job was done in less than two hours. The clean up was very thorough–they swept the drive way area and left no tree litter in our yard or our neighbor’s.
Steve was generous with his time and professional advice when my husband and I asked for his input on choosing new plants to replace the removed pines. We are anxious to get another privacy barrier planted and established, and Steve spent quite a bit of time going over our options and giving us the pros and cons of each. He also answered questions we had about some other trees on our property, which was above and beyond the job he had come to do. While he chatted with us, he crew quickly cut and chipped a sizable tree from my neighbor’s yard across the street–she had flagged them down and asked if they could squeeze the job in.
I would definitely use Horhut Tree Experts again. The efficiency of the crew combined with Steve’s knowledge and friendly manner makes them a good choice, and I certainly recommend them!

Steve was a pleasure to deal with. The work was completed quickly and efficiently. The trees look great. I would definitely hire Horhut again.

Firstly, the fact that Steve was great at returning my calls was a promising start. Steve went to my house to take a look at a rotten tree that needed cut down. Upon his arrival I was surprised to learn when he called me that a huge part had fallen; partially onto our garage. I was afraid this was going to drive up his asking price. When I received the quote later that evening I was pleasantly surprised that it was a very reasonable price given the job at hand. He and his crew showed up Monday morning at 8:30 on the dot. The agreed upon start time. I talked to him for a few minutes then they began the job. They were extremely professional, efficient, and friendly. It only took them a few hours to clear and cut the tree. They did an excellent job cleaning the debris from the yard, and left it looking better than it did before they started; minus a fallen tree.

If I ever need this type of work done again his service will be the first one I call. I can’t recommend them highly enough. They made a very stressful ordeal manageable. Definitely get these guys if you need this kind of work done.

They did all the work promised, the remaining trees that were treated are thriving! They clean up afterward as best as possible.
